Krishak Bharati Cooperative Limited (KRIBHCO) appointed M R Sharma as its Managing Director, effective 1st September 2024. In addition to his new role, Sharma will continue as Director (Technical).
According to a press release from Indian Cooperative, Sharma, a Chemical Engineering graduate from IIT Roorkee (1981), brings over 42 years of experience in the fertilizer industry, particularly in ammonia and urea production, along with integrated utility plants.
Sharma, who began his career at KRIBHCO in 1982 as a Graduate Engineer Trainee (GET), is the first GET to rise to the position of Managing Director. During his tenure, he led multiple projects and played a pivotal role in revamping KRIBHCO’s ammonia and urea complex to enhance production capacity.
The release also praised Sharma’s leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic, when most fertilizer plants in western India were forced to shut down due to raw material and workforce shortages. Under Sharma’s management, KRIBHCO’s plant operated at over 100% capacity with record energy efficiency.
In recognition of his contributions, Sharma has received several honors, including the Outstanding CEO award from the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce & Industry. He was also featured in ‘The CEO Magazine’ in 2021
