DFPCL’s Nitric Acid Plant Expansion

DFPCL has announced an important expansion of its Nitric Acid plant in Dahej, Gujarat, to meet the growing demands of the merchant market and downstream industries. This ambitious project, with a budget of ₹1,950 crore, positions DFPCL as Asia’s largest manufacturer of Nitric Acid, further solidifying its leadership in the industry.

For over 40 years, DFPCL has been a trusted name in Nitric Acid production. The expansion will strategically increase its capacity by 300 KTPA for WNA (Wet Nitric Acid) and 150 KTPA for CNA (Concentrated Nitric Acid), demonstrating the company’s commitment to innovation and growth.

The new plant will utilize state-of-the-art technology from leading global providers, incorporating low-emission green technologies—a first for India. This initiative not only highlights DFPCL’s dedication to sustainability but also positions it as a pioneer in environmentally responsible practices within the chemical manufacturing sector.

The project will leverage the expertise of renowned licensors: M/s Casale for Weak Nitric Acid and M/s KBR for Concentrated Nitric Acid. Their involvement ensures that DFPCL will employ the best technology available, enhancing both efficiency and production quality.

With 65% of the additional CNA capacity already secured under a 20-year long-term contract, DFPCL is well-prepared for successful operations. This early commitment reflects the trust and expectations clients place in DFPCL’s capabilities.

To ensure seamless execution, DFPCL has awarded the EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management) contract to Tata Projects Limited. The basic engineering phase is complete, and critical long-lead items and licensor equipment have been ordered.

Construction is set to begin in the first half of FY25, with a targeted Commercial Operations Date (COD) in the second half of FY26, marking an exciting new chapter for DFPCL.

Through this expansion, DFPCL is investing not only in its future but also in the growth of the industries it serves. This move reinforces its position as a leader in the nitric acid market while paving the way for a sustainable and prosperous future. The story of DFPCL continues, driven by innovation, commitment, and a vision for a greener tomorrow.
