IFFCO Seeks Government Approval to Launch Nano NPK Fertiliser

Nano NPK Fertiliser

IFFCO, a leading name in the fertiliser industry, is seeking government approval to launch its latest innovation—nano NPK fertiliser. This development follows the successful introduction of Nano Liquid Urea in June 2021 and Nano Liquid DAP in April 2023.

A Step Towards Innovation

IFFCO’s Managing Director, U.S. Awasthi, announced that the cooperative plans to launch the granule-based nano NPK fertiliser as soon as it gets the required clearances. He expressed confidence that farmers would embrace this innovative nutrient in the next 2-3 years.

Key Benefits and Pricing

Nano fertilisers offer significant advantages. A single 500 ml bottle of nano liquid DAP is equivalent to a 50 kg bag of conventional DAP, while a 500 ml bottle of nano urea matches a 45 kg bag of regular urea. The products are also cost-effective, with nano urea priced at ₹240 per bottle and nano liquid DAP at ₹600 per bottle.

The upcoming nano NPK granules will be produced at IFFCO’s Kandla unit and sold at ₹950 for a 5 kg bag. This product is expected to greatly reduce the use of conventional urea and DAP, saving costs and improving efficiency for farmers.

Investing in the Future

IFFCO has heavily invested in research, development, and manufacturing. Since 2017, it has spent ₹2,000 crore to bring nano fertilisers to market. The cooperative also invests ₹200 crore annually to promote nano urea and nano DAP, creating awareness among farmers about their usage alongside traditional fertilisers.

Expanding Production Capacity

IFFCO’s facilities currently produce 16 crore bottles of nano liquid urea and 7 crore bottles of nano liquid DAP annually. These figures highlight the cooperative’s commitment to meeting growing demand and supporting sustainable agriculture.

Transforming Agriculture

With the introduction of nano fertilisers, IFFCO aims to revolutionise Indian farming. These innovations not only reduce fertiliser consumption but also promote cost savings and sustainable practices, making them a game-changer for farmers nationwide.
