GNFC Greenhouse Gas Reduction

Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers & Chemicals Limited (GNFC) has taken a big step in its sustainability journey. The company successfully installed Clariant’s EnviCat N2O-S catalyst at its nitric acid plant, significantly reducing nitrous oxide (N2O) emissions and lowering its carbon footprint.

The EnviCat N2O-S catalyst has delivered impressive results, cutting N2O emissions by around 44,000 tons per month of CO2 equivalent (CO2e). This achievement highlights GNFC’s commitment to environmental sustainability and marks a major step in reducing greenhouse gas emissions from its operations.

Shri M. I. Shamsi, Executive Director of GNFC, shared his thoughts: “Our partnership with Clariant and the installation of the EnviCat N2O-S catalyst showcase our dedication to environmental responsibility. This move strengthens our sustainability goals and reinforces our role as an industry leader in reducing carbon emissions.”

The initiative is expected to lower CO2e emissions by approximately 520,000 metric tons annually, with further reductions anticipated after the next maintenance shutdown.

GNFC remains committed to using innovative technologies for a cleaner, greener future. The company takes pride in leading the industry toward sustainable manufacturing and will continue working to minimize its environmental impact.
