Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers (RCF), a leading Indian fertilizer importer, has revealed competitive prices in its 23 January urea tender. The lowest bids were $422/t cfr west coast and $427/t cfr east coast, both submitted by trading firm Indagro.
Tight Competition Among Bidders
The spread between offers was narrow, with four additional bids in the $420s/t cfr west coast range. These bids translate to:
- $410/t fob Middle East,
- $370/t fob Baltic, and
- $400-410/t fob southeast Asia for east coast deliveries.
Total Offers and Quantities
The tender attracted 21 offers, with a total quantity of 2.66mn t:
- 1.37mn t allocated to the east coast, and
- 1.29mn t for the west coast.
RCF’s Tender Requirements
RCF has outlined clear conditions for the tender:
- Loading Deadline: All cargoes must be loaded by 5 March 2025.
- Offer Validity: Offers remain valid until 31 January 2025.
- Procurement Target: RCF is seeking 1mn t of urea for the west coast and 500,000t for the east coast.
This tender underscores RCF’s efforts to secure cost-effective urea supplies while fostering competition among global suppliers to meet India’s growing fertilizer needs.
