Coromandel International Limited is expanding its backward integration strategy to strengthen raw material security. The company has already set up sulphuric and phosphoric acid plants at its Visakhapatnam unit, which improved self-sufficiency and cut costs.
Now, Coromandel is building a 2,000 TPD sulphuric acid plant and a 650 TPD phosphoric acid plant at Kakinada. This will turn the site into a fully integrated fertilizer complex, similar to its Visakhapatnam and Ennore plants.
The company is investing ₹1,100 crore in the project. Work is on track, and the new plants are expected to be commissioned by early 2026. Once complete, they will secure high-quality inputs, improve efficiency, and support India’s goal of fertilizer self-reliance.
