AGROFERT OCI Ammonia Acquisition marks a major milestone in the European fertilizer industry. AGROFERT, a leading nitrogen fertilizer producer, has completed the acquisition of 100% stake in OCI Ammonia Holding B.V. (OCI AH) for €290 million.
This strategic move strengthens AGROFERT’s position in the ammonia market and enhances its supply chain capabilities. The Ammonia Acquisition also aligns with the company’s long-term growth strategy.
Key Assets in AGROFERT OCI Ammonia Acquisition
The acquisition includes key infrastructure assets critical to ammonia logistics. OCI AH owns:
- OCI Terminal Europoort B.V. (OTE), an ammonia import and storage terminal in Rotterdam
- OCI Ammonia Distribution B.V. (OAD), responsible for ammonia distribution
The Rotterdam terminal provides direct sea access, which is essential for efficient ammonia imports and storage.
Strategic Impact of Ammonia Acquisition
The Ammonia Acquisition improves flexibility in ammonia sourcing. It also reduces dependency on third-party logistics providers. This will help AGROFERT respond quickly to market fluctuations.
Petr Cingr, Vice-Chairman of AGROFERT, said that access to sea routes strengthens the company’s ammonia market presence. He added that the company is implementing a new strategy to improve sourcing flexibility for fertilizer production in Europe.
Market Outlook After Ammonia Acquisition
The Ammonia Acquisition reflects a broader industry trend. Fertilizer companies are investing in supply chain infrastructure to secure raw materials and reduce risks.
With this deal, AGROFERT is expected to improve operational efficiency and strengthen its competitive position in the European nitrogen fertilizer market.
