Cairo, October 21, 2025 : The Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) completed Egypt’s first-ever AOI nitrogen turbine overhaul, marking a milestone in local industrial maintenance and boosting self-reliance in strategic sectors.
AOI Advances Industrial Self-Reliance
AOI Chairperson Mokhtar Abdel Latif said the organization continues to work closely with ministries, public institutions, and private companies. He called this collaboration a key step toward sustainable industrial development.
Abdel Latif explained that AOI’s Engine Factory overhauled a high-speed steam turbine used in Egypt’s nitrogen fertilizer plants. Engineers conducted precision measurements, chemical analysis, and non-destructive testing with advanced equipment.
Record-Time Turbine Overhaul Completed
The team sourced materials and spare parts quickly, completing the AOI Nitrogen Turbine Overhaul in just 25 days, restoring full efficiency. They manufactured special fixtures and gauges for turning, grinding, and dimensional checks. All work met engineering and international quality standards.
The repair included steam and dry ice chemical cleaning, precision machining, and grinding with specialized tools.
Reducing Dependence on Foreign Services
Previously, turbines were sent abroad for maintenance, taking up to one year. AOI completed this nitrogen fertilizer turbine maintenance domestically, saving time and costs.
The project combined expertise from Engine, Aircraft, and Electronics Factories. Abdel Latif said it shows AOI’s technical skill and ability to perform complex industrial repairs locally.
Boosting Egypt’s Industrial Capability
This milestone demonstrates AOI’s advanced human and technological resources. Completing the turbine overhaul domestically strengthens Egypt’s industrial self-reliance and reduces foreign dependence.
“This achievement ensures Egypt can manage advanced turbine maintenance locally. It protects industrial assets and supports long-term growth,” Abdel Latif said.
AOI will continue to provide domestic manufacturing, repair, and maintenance for critical industrial equipment, supporting Egyptian industries and partner nations.
