First Fertiliser Freight Train Reaches Anantnag, Boosting Agricultural Supply Chain in Kashmir

The fertiliser freight train Kashmir reached the Anantnag goods terminal on Tuesday, marking a major milestone for agricultural logistics in the Valley. This development will strengthen fertiliser availability and support farmers during the critical sowing season.

Meanwhile, the Jammu division of Northern Railway continues to expand freight operations. As a result, the region is witnessing a steady rise in inward rakes carrying essential commodities.

According to an official spokesperson, a freight train with 21 BCN wagons arrived at Anantnag from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh. The rake carried around 1,339 tonnes of PDM (Potash Derived from Molasses) fertiliser supplied by Indian Potash Limited.

Importantly, the direct arrival of the fertiliser freight train Kashmir will reduce reliance on road transport. Consequently, farmers will receive fertilisers faster and at lower logistics costs.

In addition, rail-based movement will speed up unloading and storage at the goods terminal. This efficiency will benefit traders, cooperatives, and farmers across the region.

Moreover, uninterrupted fertiliser supply during the sowing season will help boost agricultural output in Kashmir. At the same time, improved freight connectivity will support local markets and related logistics activities.

Speaking on the achievement, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said continuous marketing efforts made this possible. He added that the Jammu division is engaging with other fertiliser companies to bring more freight rakes directly to Anantnag.

Overall, the fertiliser freight train Kashmir initiative highlights Indian Railways’ commitment to improving infrastructure. It will also strengthen trade integration and agricultural growth in the Valley.
