New Delhi: Green Ammonia Project India gets a major boost as TrueRE Oriana Power signs a long-term Green Ammonia Purchase Agreement (GAPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India. The agreement supports India’s push under the National Green Hydrogen Mission.
Under the deal, TrueRE Oriana Power will supply 60,000 tonnes per year of green ammonia. The contract is valued at around ₹3,135 crore over 10 years, ensuring long-term demand visibility.
Green Ammonia India: SECI Builds Supply Chain for Fertilizer Sector
As part of the arrangement, SECI has signed a Green Ammonia Sale Agreement (GASA) with Madhya Bharat Agro Products Limited. The company will act as the end-user of the green ammonia.
This structure creates a clear supply chain from production to industrial consumption. It also strengthens the fertilizer sector, where ammonia is a key raw material.
Green Ammonia India Project Under SIGHT Programme
The project was awarded to TrueRE Oriana Power under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) programme. The Letter of Award (LoA) was issued in August 2025.
The agreement was formally signed on March 30, 2026, at Atal Akshay Urja Bhawan in New Delhi. The event was held under the aegis of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.
The SIGHT programme is part of India’s strategy to accelerate green hydrogen adoption and reduce dependence on fossil fuels.
Green Ammonia India: Madhya Pradesh Project Details
The green ammonia plant will be set up in Sagar. TrueRE Oriana Power will handle the entire project execution.
This includes:
- Project development
- Regulatory approvals
- Land acquisition and clearances
By managing the full lifecycle, the company aims to ensure timely completion and operational efficiency.
Green Ammonia to Strengthen Energy Security
Commenting on the development, Anirudh Saraswat, Founder and Chief Business Officer of TrueRE Oriana Power, said long-term agreements are essential for scaling green hydrogen and ammonia projects.
He noted that such contracts provide financial certainty and encourage infrastructure investment.
The Green Ammonia India initiative will also help reduce reliance on imported fossil-based ammonia used in fertilizers. Domestic production is expected to improve energy security and support industrial decarbonisation.
Growing Role of Green Ammonia
With this deal, TrueRE Oriana Power is expanding beyond renewable power generation into green fuels. The company is focusing on green hydrogen and green ammonia as part of its long-term strategy.
The Green Ammonia India market is expected to grow rapidly as demand for low-carbon fuels increases. Projects like this will play a key role in building India’s green hydrogen ecosystem and achieving climate goals.
