Indian Urea Tender has been officially announced by Indian Potash Limited (IPL), inviting global suppliers to participate in a major import deal. The Indian Potash Urea Tender aims to secure a total of 2.5 million metric tonnes (MT) of Granular/Prilled Urea for supply to India.
According to the tender notice issued on 4 April 2026, IPL is seeking bids for 1.5 million MT at the West Coast of India and 1.0 million MT at the East Coast (ECI). The urea must meet agriculture-grade specifications and will be imported in bulk shipments.
The tender specifies that shipments are scheduled for vessel sailing by 14 June 2026, ensuring timely supply for agricultural demand. Suppliers must quote prices separately on FOB and C&FFO basis in US dollars per metric tonne, as bids with only C&FFO pricing will not be accepted.
To ensure fair competition, IPL has mandated strict bidding conditions. Manufacturers supplying directly are not required to submit Earnest Money Deposit (EMD). However, traders must provide an EMD of USD 3 per MT, while other bidders must submit USD 10 per MT as bid security.
The deadline for submission of bids is 15 April 2026 by 11:30 AM IST, and bids will be opened on the same day at 12:30 PM IST. Additionally, the validity of bids must remain until 23 April 2026 (2000 Hrs).
This Indian Potash Urea Tender is expected to influence global urea trade flows, especially from major exporting regions such as the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Given India’s large fertilizer demand, this tender will play a key role in stabilizing domestic supply and pricing.
IPL has also reserved the right to reject any or all bids without assigning any reason, maintaining flexibility in procurement decisions.
