Myanmar Organic Fertilizer Factory Planned in Naypyidaw with Russia

Myanmar organic fertilizer factory development has officially begun in Naypyidaw, as a Russia–Myanmar joint venture conducted a groundbreaking and agreement signing ceremony on 19 December. According to state-controlled media, the project marks a new step in bilateral agricultural cooperation. As a result, the initiative aims to strengthen domestic fertilizer availability.

Moreover, the project focuses on organic and foliar fertilizer production to support farmers and improve crop productivity.

Myanmar Organic Fertilizer Factory Location and Scope

The Myanmar organic fertilizer factory will come up in Naypyidaw, where the Military Commission operates. Specifically, authorities selected Plot No. 1662 in Ah Lyin Lo Village Tract, Zabuthiri Township for the facility.

Meanwhile, officials confirmed that the first phase will focus on liquid and foliar fertilizers. Therefore, the project will address immediate agricultural needs before expanding capacity.

Russia–Myanmar Joint Venture Partners

The joint venture brings together RUMA Organic, a subsidiary of Russia’s Fund RC-Investments, and Aung Than Htike Co., Ltd. from Myanmar. Together, the partners aim to accelerate organic fertilizer manufacturing in the country.

In addition, U Hla Moe, Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development, described the project as critical for long-term agricultural growth. He also urged contractors to complete construction within the planned schedule. However, authorities have not announced a commissioning date.

Project Linked to September 2024 Cooperation Agreement

Notably, the fertilizer project follows a Memorandum of Cooperation signed in September 2024 between Myanmar and Russia. Under this agreement, Myanmar’s agriculture and rural development ministries partnered with Russia’s Fund RC-Investments.

First, the partners will establish foliar fertilizer production units. Subsequently, they will build a full-scale organic fertilizer plant in the second phase.

Expanding Myanmar–Russia Strategic Cooperation

Beyond agriculture, Myanmar and Russia have strengthened cooperation across several sectors. For instance, both sides have signed agreements covering investment, energy, and defense.

Furthermore, officials have discussed plans for a nuclear power plant near Naypyidaw. Consequently, these initiatives reflect a broader strategic partnership between the two countries.
