Egyptian fertilizer producer NCIC has awarded its latest DAP and SSP tender, which closed on 4 April 2026, at significantly higher prices, indicating firm global demand in the phosphate market.
DAP Prices Jump to $840/t FOB
NCIC sold 10,000 tonnes of DAP at $840/t FOB, divided among three buyers. This marks a sharp increase compared to the previous tender, where the same volume was sold at $780/t FOB on 4 March.
The price rise reflects tightening supply and strong international demand for phosphatic fertilizers.
SSP Prices Also Increase to $375/t FOB
For SSP, NCIC awarded 25,000 tonnes at $375/t FOB to a single buyer. In comparison, the company had sold the same volume at $335/t FOB in its 15 March tender.
This steady upward trend highlights growing demand for SSP in key agricultural markets.
Shipment Destinations Unclear
So far, there has been no official buy-side confirmation, and shipment destinations remain unconfirmed.
However, market sources suggest:
- Australia is the most likely destination for SSP cargo
- Possible combined shipment with earlier 25,000t volume sold on 15 March
- That earlier cargo was initially expected to move to Brazil
Additionally, traders have reported Egyptian SSP deals to Australia at around $370/t FOB, indicating strong regional demand.
Market Outlook
The latest NCIC DAP SSP Tender results reinforce a bullish sentiment in the global phosphate market. Rising prices for both DAP and SSP suggest:
- Tight supply conditions
- Strong seasonal demand
- Active trader participation
If this trend continues, further price increases may be seen in upcoming tenders.
