Cinis Fertilizer Plant Overhaul to Boost Capacity and Cut Emissions

Cinis Fertilizer plant overhaul

Cinis Fertilizer has announced a major plant overhaul at its production facility in Köpmanholmen, Sweden, which will temporarily halt operations starting in mid-November 2025. The planned shutdown, expected to last four to six weeks, will help the company improve process stability, expand production capacity, and reduce dust emissions.

The Cinis Fertilizer plant overhaul includes key technical improvements such as enhanced cooling capacity for better production stability and a new filtration system to minimize dust and improve workplace safety. These upgrades are designed to strengthen the company’s production reliability while aligning with its sustainability goals.

According to the company, profitability has been under pressure in recent months due to lower demand for fertilizers and rising raw material prices. The ongoing strategic review focuses on three main areas: reducing input costs, increasing potassium sulfate output, and improving finished product pricing.

“This is an ideal time for us to implement the improvements,” said Jakob Liedberg, CEO and founder of Cinis Fertilizer AB. “The seasonal slowdown allows us to make significant technical upgrades with minimal disruption to supply.”

Cinis Fertilizer will publish its Q3 2025 interim report on November 13, 2025, where it will provide an update on the strategic review and progress of the overhaul project.
