The EIL Dangote fertilizer expansion is moving forward with a new MoU between Engineers India Limited (EIL) and the Dangote Group. This step strengthens feedstock availability and supports fertilizer-linked growth across West Africa. It also deepens the collaboration between two of the largest players in the regionโs energy and fertilizer chain.
EIL Dangote fertilizer expansion to secure feedstock supply
EIL, Indiaโs leading engineering consultancy, continues to support global fertilizer projects. In this expansion, EIL aims to improve the supply of ammonia, hydrogen and other key inputs used in urea and NPK production.
Dangote operates one of the worldโs largest integrated refinery and petrochemical hubs. The Group plans to raise the refineryโs capacity from 650,000 BPD to 1.4 million BPD. As a result, feedstock for fertilizer units will become more stable and readily available.
Stronger fertilizer output expected under the expansion
The EIL Dangote fertilizer expansion will enhance the link between refining and fertilizer blocks. This includes improved integration of gas, hydrogen and process streams that support nitrogen-based fertilizer production.
Additionally, Dangote will install a new PDH unit. This unit will increase polypropylene capacity from 830,000 TPA to 2.4 million TPA. Consequently, West Africa will benefit from more raw materials for agricultural packaging and other essential uses.
Leadership emphasizes the fertilizer impact
Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote stated that the new MoU reflects strong confidence in EILโs capability. He praised EILโs work during the first phase and expects the second phase to create one of the worldโs most integrated refinery and fertilizer complexes.
EIL Chairperson and Managing Director Ms. Vartika Shukla added that the project carries global significance. She said EIL will use its multi-disciplinary strengths to support the large-scale fertilizer and petrochemical expansion.
EIL Dangote fertilizer expansion to support regional agriculture
This expansion will help boost the supply of urea, ammonia and other essential fertilizers. It will also reduce Nigeriaโs import dependence and lower supply-chain risks. As a result, farmers across West Africa may gain more consistent access to affordable plant nutrients.
With the EIL Dangote fertilizer expansion progressing, the region is positioned to strengthen its agricultural output and fertilizer security for the long term.
