IFFCO Paradip sulphuric acid plant will be dedicated to the nation by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Odisha on March 6. The IFFCO Paradip sulphuric acid plant is located at the cooperative major’s Paradip facility and is expected to strengthen fertilizer raw material production in the region.
The sulphuric acid plant (SAP-III) has been set up by Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) at its Paradip complex. The project aims to enhance domestic production capacity and support fertilizer manufacturing operations.
Amit Shah to Dedicate Sulphuric Acid Plant at Paradip
Amit Shah will dedicate the new sulphuric acid plant during a function at IFFCO’s Paradip unit. The initiative aligns with the government’s vision of “Sahkar se Samriddhi”, which focuses on strengthening cooperative institutions across India.
The Paradip complex is one of IFFCO’s major fertilizer manufacturing facilities. The addition of the SAP-III plant will support integrated operations and improve raw material availability for fertilizer production.
Cooperative Sector Initiatives to be Launched
Later in the day, Shah will inaugurate and launch several cooperative sector initiatives at the IDCO Exhibition Ground in Bhubaneswar.
Key announcements will include:
Release of the State Cooperative Policy
Signing of MoUs for establishing a school under Tribhuvan Cooperative University
Revival plan for Badamba Sugar Industries
PACS Infrastructure and Digital Platforms
As part of efforts to strengthen grassroots cooperative infrastructure, Shah will dedicate 1,567 Common Service Centres operated by PACS/LAMPS.
The programme will also include:
Virtual inauguration of infrastructure for 141 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS)
Launch of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) Office Portal
Several digital initiatives will also be introduced, including:
Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) portal by National Cooperative Organics Limited
“Coop Marque” developed by National Cooperative Exports Limited
“Savidya”, an AI-enabled multilingual digital learning platform
Dairy Sector and Development Projects
The programme will highlight dairy sector initiatives through Odisha State Cooperative Milk Producers’ Federation Limited (OMFED). Registration certificates will be distributed to two milk producer cooperative societies, and grants will be released under the Chief Minister Kamdhenu Yojana.
An MoU will also be signed with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) to upgrade a Training and Demonstration Centre for dairy sector capacity building.
According to the government, a video presentation on departmental projects will also be shown during the event. In total, 69 projects worth Rs 1,159.03 crore will be inaugurated, while foundation stones will be laid for 130 projects valued at Rs 2,116.06 crore.
