Mosaic Company Faces Phosphate Setbacks but Sees Gains in Brazil Fertilizer Market

Mosaic Company Fertilizer News

Mosaic Company Fertilizer News shows a mixed third-quarter 2025 performance for The Mosaic Company (NYSE:MOS).
The $10.61 billion fertilizer producer, with annual revenue of $11.25 billion, reported lower phosphate output but strong growth in Brazil.

Mosaic Company Fertilizer News: Phosphate Output Below Expectations

Mosaic’s phosphate production reached only 1.7 million tonnes in Q3 2025, missing internal targets.
Unexpected mechanical problems at its Riverview sulfuric-acid plant and a utility outage at Bartow in mid-September limited production.
These issues slowed output through month-end but have now been resolved.

Despite the setback, InvestingPro rated Mosaic’s financial health as “GOOD,” highlighting solid profitability.
Analysts also consider the company undervalued based on its Fair Value model.

Fertilizer Field Insight:
Phosphate interruptions show how quickly refinery or utility disruptions can impact fertilizer supply stability worldwide.

Potash Segment Holds Steady in Q3 2025

Mosaic’s potash division delivered consistent performance, producing and selling about 2.3 million tonnes each.
Management said operations ran smoothly and that cost-control measures supported margins.

Mosaic Fertilizantes Leads Growth in Brazil Fertilizer Market

The company’s Brazilian arm, Mosaic Fertilizantes, achieved 2.8 million tonnes in sales — a 25 % increase from Q2 2025.
Executives said they remain focused on profit optimization despite Brazil’s tight credit conditions.

Fertilizer Field Insight:
Brazil’s steady demand for potash and phosphate helped offset Mosaic’s North American production dip.

Production Issues Resolved and Outlook Improves

Mosaic confirmed that phosphate-plant problems are fixed and that asset-health upgrades should ensure better reliability ahead.
Phosphate sales reached 1.6 million tonnes, slightly lower than output because of short-term shipping delays.

The company plans to publish full Q3 2025 financial results on November 4, followed by a conference call on November 5.

Strategic Moves Strengthen Mosaic’s Portfolio

In earlier reports, Mosaic announced Q2 2025 EPS of $0.51, missing the $0.72 forecast.
Revenue reached $3.01 billion, down 4.75 % from expectations.

Recently, Mosaic sold its Patos de Minas phosphate mine in Brazil to Fosfatados Centro SPE Ltda. for $111 million, expecting a book gain of $80–90 million in Q4 2025.
The company also agreed to sell its Taquari-Vassouras potash mine to VL Mineração Ltda. for up to $27 million.
The deal awaits CADE approval and could close by year-end.

Fertilizer Field Insight:
These divestments reflect Mosaic’s strategy to streamline assets and improve capital efficiency across global fertilizer operations.

Outlook for the Global FERTILIZERFIELD

Analysts believe Mosaic’s combination of Brazilian growth, strong potash performance, and operational recovery positions it well for 2026.
However, continued equipment reliability and logistics efficiency will remain key to sustaining profitability.
