Turkey’s leading refiner Tupras has recorded a sharp increase in its latest Tupras sulphur tender, awarding April-loading volumes at significantly higher prices compared to the previous tender in February.
The company finalized part of its e-tender on Tuesday, selling small sulphur lots at $662–672 per tonne (fca). This marks a strong rise of $155.50/t from the last tender held between 20–23 February, where prices ranged from $487–536/t fca.
Izmit refinery awards bulk of volumes
At the Izmit refinery, Tupras awarded approximately 8,850 tonnes of sulphur. The product was sold in multiple formats, including bulk, liquid, and big bags.
- Lot sizes ranged from 50 to 950 tonnes
- Prices were fixed between $662–664/t fca
This refinery accounted for the largest share of the concluded volumes in the latest tender.
Kirikkale refinery sees highest price increase
The Kirikkale refinery recorded the steepest price jump in the Tupras sulphur tender.
- Around 1,000 tonnes of sulphur were sold
- Lot sizes ranged from 50 to 400 tonnes
- Prices reached $670–672/t fca
This represents an increase of $183.50/t compared to the previous tender level of $487–488/t fca, highlighting strong demand and tightening supply conditions.
Izmir tender still pending
Meanwhile, Tupras has yet to conclude its Izmir refinery tender. The company is offering 3,500 tonnes of sulphur in various lot sizes, and market participants are closely watching the final pricing outcome.
Market outlook: Strong sulphur pricing trend continues
The latest Tupras sulphur tender reflects a firm upward trend in global sulphur prices. Higher demand from fertilizer producers and constrained supply are supporting price gains across key export markets.
If this momentum continues, upcoming tenders — including the pending Izmir volumes — are likely to settle at similarly elevated levels or even higher.
