Air Products Yara Partnership Targets Global Low-Emission Ammonia Expansion

Air Products Yara

The Air Products Yara partnership aims to develop a global low-emission ammonia supply chain by linking major new projects in the United States and Saudi Arabia. The companies plan to finalize investment decisions in 2026, positioning themselves to supply the growing demand for clean ammonia across global markets — particularly in Europe.

U.S. Clean Energy Complex in Louisiana

Air Products is building what is expected to be one of the world’s largest low-carbon hydrogen facilities in Louisiana. The project will produce more than 750 million standard cubic feet of hydrogen per day, capturing 95% of CO₂ emissions during operation.

Upon commissioning, Yara will acquire 25% of ammonia-related assets and integrate production into its international distribution network. The remaining hydrogen will feed regional customers via Air Products’ 700-mile Gulf Coast pipeline system. Project completion is targeted for 2030, following FID mid-2026.

Saudi Arabia’s NEOM Project Nearing Startup

Construction of the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project is over 90% complete, with commercial operations expected in 2027. The facility will produce up to 1.2 million tonnes of renewable ammonia annually, which Air Products will market globally.

A distribution agreement planned for 2026 will allow Yara to ship renewable ammonia through its fleet of 12 carriers and 18 global import terminals.

Why This Collaboration Matters

Yara is the world’s largest ammonia trader and shipper, while Air Products leads in low-carbon hydrogen production. Together, they can scale renewable ammonia faster and more competitively — supporting decarbonization goals across the energy, industrial, and fertilizer sectors.
