DAP Price increased to around $715/t cfr Tanzania after Saudi Arabian phosphates producer Maaden sold 35,000–40,000t of diammonium phosphate (DAP) to a single buyer. The DAP Price reflects stronger demand in the east African fertilizer market ahead of the March shipment window.
Maaden agreed the sale for shipment in early March. The transaction took place on a sight-payment basis without credit terms. Market sources reported the deal, but buyers have not confirmed the purchase yet.
The latest transaction indicates an improvement in DAP prices compared with previous sales into east Africa. In December, Maaden reportedly sold DAP cargoes to the region at $700–707/t cfr. The new deal therefore shows a noticeable price increase in a short period.
The reported Tanzania sale nets back to the mid-$690s/t fob Ras Al-Khair. Ras Al-Khair remains one of the key export hubs for Saudi phosphate fertilizers. Export-based pricing continues to influence regional fertilizer trade flows.
East Africa remains an important destination for DAP suppliers from the Middle East. Seasonal demand and supply availability often determine fertilizer price movements in the region. Buyers typically secure shipments ahead of planting seasons, which supports market activity.
Global phosphate markets have shown mixed trends in recent months. Some regions have experienced stable demand, while others have seen price corrections. Producers continue to monitor raw-material costs, freight rates, and regional demand conditions.
The latest Maaden sale suggests firm pricing momentum in east Africa. Market participants will watch upcoming fertilizer tenders and shipments closely to assess the direction of DAP prices in the coming weeks.
There has been no buy-side confirmation of the reported transaction so far.
