Market sources report that Nutrien has completed a new spot ammonia purchase for December delivery to Northwestern Europe. The company bought 25,000–30,000 tonnes from Koch at $690–695/t CFR. Traders believe that the cargo will come from Trinidad and Tobago.
Nutrien began looking for alternative supply options after it shut down its Trinidad facility on 23 October. The shutdown reduced its local production and created a supply gap. To support its customers, the company turned to the spot market and secured fresh volumes.
This move also signals tighter ammonia availability as winter demand approaches. European buyers continue to watch the market closely, and several traders expect more short-term deals if supply remains limited.
The Nutrien ammonia spot purchase shows how buyers now rely on flexible sourcing to avoid disruptions.
