A Parliamentary Standing Committee has recommended that the Government of India revive idle urea plants at Durgapur, Haldia, and Korba to strengthen domestic fertilizer production and reduce the country’s dependence on imports. The recommendation comes as India continues to face a significant gap between domestic urea production and national consumption.
