GNFC TDI plant shutdown has been reported after Gujarat Narmada Valley Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (GNFC) temporarily halted its 50,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) Toluene Diisocyanate (TDI) unit at Dahej, Gujarat. The shutdown occurred on March 5, 2026, following a technical issue at the facility. According to market sources, the GNFC TDI plant shutdown will remain in place until further notice while technical teams work to resolve the issue.
Previous Disruption at the GNFC TDI Plant
This is the second disruption at the Dahej facility in recent months. The plant earlier experienced a shutdown on January 29, 2026, due to technical problems. After the shutdown, the company carried out planned maintenance work at the unit.
The plant later resumed operations on February 20, 2026, with production gradually ramping up. However, the latest technical problem has again resulted in the GNFC TDI plant disruption , raising concerns about supply stability.
Impact of GNFC TDI plant disruption on Supply
The Dahej complex operated by GNFC plays an important role in India’s domestic TDI supply. The facility has contributed significantly to maintaining supply balance in the country through steady operations over the past year.
Toluene Diisocyanate (TDI) is widely used in the production of polyurethane foam, which is essential for industries such as furniture, mattresses, automotive seating, insulation materials, and packaging.
Market participants believe that a prolonged GNFC TDI plant disruption could tighten domestic supply and increase India’s dependence on imported TDI, depending on how quickly the unit restarts.
Industry sources are closely monitoring developments at the Dahej facility. Updates regarding the restart timeline are expected once the technical issue is resolved.
