The Urea Booking Mobile App launched by the Telangana government aims to ensure fair fertilizer distribution during peak farming seasons. The Urea Booking Mobile App allows farmers to book urea in advance and avoid long queues at fertilizer shops.
The Agriculture Department introduced this digital system to stop panic buying and improve supply management. Farmers often stand in long lines during crop seasons due to stock uncertainty. This mobile platform makes fertilizer purchase simple and predictable.
According to Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao, as of February 14, around 12.73 lakh farmers booked 50.48 lakh bags of urea through the app. Out of this, 46.13 lakh bags were purchased. The strong booking-to-purchase conversion shows farmer acceptance.
Earlier, dealers distributed fertilizer after Aadhaar authentication. However, authorities could not verify whether the buyer owned farmland or cultivated crops. Fertilizer purchases also did not always match crop stages or scientific recommendations.
During Kharif seasons, these gaps caused crowding at fertilizer shops. Farmers often visited outlets many times to check stock. Panic buying and hoarding also increased.
The Agriculture Department introduced the mobile app to solve these problems through digital monitoring and scientific allocation.
How the Urea Booking Mobile App Works
The Urea Booking App works like an online ticket booking system. Farmers can check real-time fertilizer stock using their phones. They can reserve the required quantity and visit dealers only after confirmation.
This system reduces uncertainty and saves time for farmers.
